Cold Laser For Pain, Wounds, Stroke and More

Low intensity (cold) laser therapy has been found to improve or eliminate symptoms related to many conditions, including pain, wound healing, inflammation, traumatic brain injury, a variety of skin conditions, and more.

 

I have my own experience with the healing power of light that I will share with you here.

 

However, do not be surprised because as you know babies with jaundice are healed with light therapy.

 

Cold laser allows light to penetrate deep into the tissue to reduce inflammation, increase mitochondrial activity, and cell regeneration. That’s why Olympic and professional sports teams use cold laser therapy for faster recovery from injury and exercise.

 

During cold laser therapy, different wavelengths and outputs of low-level light are applied directly to a targeted area. The body tissue then absorbs the light. The red and near-infrared light cause a reaction, and the damaged cells respond with a physiological reaction that promotes regeneration.

 

Superficial tissue is commonly treated with wavelengths between 600 and 700 nanometers (nm). For deeper penetration, wavelengths between 780 and 950 nm are used.

 

Although you’ll feel the laser device touching your skin, the procedure is painless and noninvasive. There will be no sound and you’ll feel no vibration or heat. Each treatment typically takes only a few minutes.

 

Dr. Michael Hamblin is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School and a member of the Affiliated Faculty of Harvard-MIT Division of Health Science and Technology. He has done a lot of research on cold laser therapy and believes someday we will all own a device at home to treat various conditions.

A minute or two later when I moved my foot a little, I did not feel any pain. That was too good to be true, to say the least. Then I started to walk on it a little. It was tender but no pain. I went up the stairs to get something. My ankle and foot felt a little bit of pain. A few minutes later, I went up the stairs again and no pain or discomfort. I did another treatment before sleep. Incident #3. Another time when I overstretched and had pain around my ribcage it got rid of pain fast.

Incident #4. I strained a few abdominal muscles after some deep yoga stretches. Very painful. I applied TenDlite and it did not work, even after treating the area 3 times a day for five days. So it has its limits.

 

I bought one for my 81-year old mother to use for her stiff knees. For more than ten years she has had stiff knees.
